AI tool idea: an visual scan app/device for waste segregation advice
You have an item of waste. You take a picture of it with the app on a smartphone or a standalone device built for this purpose. You get advice on what to do with that item - how to dispose/deal with that item of waste properly. This advice comes from the codes/rules/knowledge maintained by whichever agency (or multiple agencies) is responsible for waste segregation source of truth. E.g. mywaste.ie in Ireland.
Why did I think of this?
Because I have repeatedly observed over the course of 2-3 years that there is a lot of items being kept in recycling bins that shouldn't be in there, e.g. wet waste, or plastic/cardboard/paper soiled with food. Then there are the cases of rotten wooden planks, bits and pieces of household equipment - e.g. part metal/part wood/part plastic.
